Racibórz - over 1000 year old town which in the early Middle Ages used to defend the crossing of the Odra River on the trade track leading to Poland through the Moravian Gate. The name of the town comes from Old-Slav name Racibor.
In the 12th century the residence of the castellany and the capital of the Piast duchy.
Nowadays Racibórz is a poviat town with almost 70.000 inhabitants, situated on the southwestern border of the Silesian Voivodeship.
